CDPR Wants The Witcher 3 Remastered to Feel Like a Modern Release

CD Projekt Red wants The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, launching September 29 as a free update, to feel like a game built in 2026, instead of a decade-old title with a fresh coat of paint. Speaking to PC Gamer, executive producer Jakub Kutrzuba explained that this overhaul goes well beyond the visual and technical bump the game got with its 2022 next-gen update. The team apparently reworked everything they could without rebuilding the game from scratch. Here's what he told PC Gamer about how far the changes have come:

"With the remaster, it is even bigger and it's also quite heavy, maybe even heavier on the technical level. But what is more important is that we are touching these aspects of the game which weren't touched since we launched it. I'm talking about the animation. I'm talking about the gameplay. I'm talking about the quality of life, how you actually play the game. We wanted to make it [comparable] with any other game which is launching these days. It's so easy to get used to these new improvements that it's hard to go back."
