Blizzcon is in full force and with it, a slew of announcements have come out of the woodwork. But there is one that I am personally happy to see: controller support looks to be making its way to ‘World of Warcraft’ in a real, official sense and that’s just lovely to see. Yoinking this tweet I caught on Twitter (thank you @domacadin !!):

That text on that picture reads as the following:

Welcome and thank you for being one of the first people to try out World of Warcraft’s new gamepad option! This experience is currently in an alpha state and the team is looking for feedback as we continue to make improvements.

Currently, the gamepad can be tested on the Skyborne 1-10 experience only and not the dungeon playtest. The game will detect gamepad usage, so while in the Skyborne starting zone, press any button on the gamepad to switch.

Have fun adventuring in Azeroth!

The controls seem relatively straightforward (FFXIV has some lovely con support for reference), but there’s no mention of when this feature will make its way to the various World of Warcraft SKUs. Still, better a test be made available now than to keep WoW a dusty old MMO forever—welcome to 2026, Blizzard!
