With the Halo franchise now moving under the Activision umbrella, Activision President Rob Kostich has shared a small statement where he acknowledges the teams, and sets a lofty goal – to make ‘the greatest Halo game ever.’

In case you missed the news, Xbox continued their massive reset of the console division, with additional layoffs announced today that affected Halo Studios in addition to other first-party organisations.

It also saw multiple studios move across to Activision, with Rare and World’s Edge now under that team. Halo is a slightly different situation, with a new team stood up internally to build the next mainline game. Per Matt Booty – “Activision will also be developing the next Halo title, led by a new, purpose-built team that is separate from ongoing development and plans for Call of Duty.”

What exactly that entails, or how many of the team from Halo Studios remain is yet to be known, but Activision President Rob Kostich has shared a new comment on his ‘bold ambition’ for the Halo franchise.

For Halo, our goal is clear: make the greatest Halo game ever, worthy of its universe and legacy, while staying true to what made players love it in the first place. It is a bold ambition, one that this franchise deserves. We have already begun assembling a purpose-built team, unique in capability and talent, ready and excited to deliver this next chapter with the community. To the World’s Edge and Rare teams, we can’t wait to get to work together.”
