School Days Spin-Off Summer Days Gets 20th Anniversary Remaster on December 18

Overflow announced that Summer Days, the visual novel spin-off of School Days, is getting a remastered release on December 18, 2026, to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Pre-orders will open on September 25, 2026. 

The title was originally released for PC in Japan on June 23, 2006. It is the second entry in the School Days series and shifts its attention to Setsuna Kiyoura during summer vacation.

Summer Days presents an alternate story centered on Setsuna and her feelings for classmate Makoto Itou. Setsuna takes over her childhood friend Sekai’s part-time job at the restaurant Radish after Sekai becomes sick. Like School Days, the visual novel uses an animated presentation with voiced characters and branching choices that can lead to different outcomes.

The original release became particularly known for its extensive technical problems, resulting in multiple patches and an eventual recall. Sales of Summer Days ended in 2011, ahead of Shiny Days, a remake released in 2012.

The developer has teased an English release via JAST USA.
