This New PS5 Visual Novel Is Absolutely Bursting with Style

Those of you reading the re-release of Steins;Gate this week may want to keep a close eye on Japanese dev MAGES’ latest effort, Seeker Eye.

The game’s due out in Japan on 25th February, and while there’s no word on an English localisation just yet, I’m pretty confident it’ll make its way overseas eventually.

This is described as an “occult suspense” adventure, which is basically catnip to my ears.

It focuses on the editor of a supernatural magazine, who digs deeper into the events of a ghost story which he finds particularly suspicious.

While this is a visual novel – meaning you’ll be spending most of your time reading it – a gameplay mechanic will allow you to peek into the private lives of characters caught up in the abovementioned yarn.

The game will have over 1,000 pieces of artwork, which MAGES says is more than your average visual novel. It also features an all-star dev team, including Chaos;Child’s Ryou Yasumoto as scenario writer.

You can check out the opening movie embedded above for a glimpse of how stylish this is shaping up to be. And of course I’ll try to get word on whether a western release is planned.
